[Austria] Summer Course – German Language and Austrian Studies

The Austrian Embassy has the pleasure to transmit new information material on the Diplomatic Academy’s well-established “Summer Course for German Language and Austrian Studies”, which will take place from August 2 to 26, 2021.

The program combines four weeks of intensive German language training at different levels of competence (beginners to advanced – in accordance with the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework) together with workshops on Austrian politics, history and culture and excursions to national and international organizations in Vienna.

Hokkaido University offered four  program called HUSTEP (The Hokkaido University Short-Term Exchange Program) & JLCSP (The Japanese Language and Culture Studies Program) & Special Audit Student (For Graduate Students and Undergraduate Students) & Special Research Student (For Graduate Students)

The Hokkaido University Short-Term Exchange Program (HUSTEP) is a ‘junior year abroad’ type program designed to provide undergraduate students from affiliated universities with the opportunity to study in Japan at Hokkaido University. Participants in this program take a wide variety of classes offered in English in HUSTEP’s two core divisions: Culture and Society, and Science, Technology, and Environment. Students also have the chance to study the Japanese language. In addition, some participants can pursue independent research under the guidance of a faculty member. There will also be opportunities to take part in numerous traditional and contemporary Japanese cultural activities. Finally, students admitted to the program are eligible to apply for a scholarship.

The Japanese Language and Culture Studies Program (JLCSP) is a “junior year abroad” type program for undergraduate students majoring in Japanese language and culture. Each year international students from our partner universities and government-sponsored students come to Japan to take this enriching program. The JLCSP is renowned nationwide and provides classes of varying levels of difficulty (intermediate to advanced) to students of the Japanese language. You can also choose courses from our English curriculum or courses from the standard curriculum taken by Japanese students. If you would like to deepen your understanding of your particular field of independent study, or learn business Japanese, this course can help you achieve your goals. Also, Hokkaido University’s Sapporo campus is commonly thought of as the most beautiful campus in Japan.

– Due to the different conditions and requirements of the doctoral programme, two different Call for Applications released.

– Applicants for doctoral programmes can not apply for bachelor, master, one-tier master and non-degree programmes.

– All students applying for a doctoral program must have a supervisor at the host university. A statement of acceptance issued by the supervisor must be attached to the application.

[Japan] Meiji University – Online Intensive Japanese Language Program 2021

Meiji University, which will celebrate its 140th anniversary in 2021, is a comprehensive university that has received high praise from home and abroad as one of the “Tokyo Big6”. It attracts more than 100,000 students each year, and currently more than 34,000 students are studying, including about 2,000 international students.

The Meiji University Japanese Language Education Center will hold an online intensive Japanese Language program from February to March 2021.

This program focuses on interactive Japanese language learning using the online conferencing system (Zoom), and improves overall Japanese proficiency through on-demand assignments and interaction with Meiji University students. Participants are expected to equip Japanese Language Skills as well as to deepen understanding of various topics by listening and reading in Japanese, and talk with Japanese students and write on SNS what you learned and felt in the classes. Through studying Japanese, they can deepen their understanding of Japanese culture.

    • Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
    • Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
  • Pre-intermediate’s class (B1 level in CEFR scale):JLPT* N3~N2 level
    • Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
    • Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
    • Can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest.
    • Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

The class will be allocated based on the result of Japanese online test conducted after the application. And a certificate will be issued to the participants who meet a requirement.

[Japan] Kyushu University – ASEAN in Today’s World 2021 Online Program

AsTW is a two-week study program at the undergraduate level, designed to deepen understanding of ASEAN and East Asian affairs. Since 2009, the Kyushu University has organized the program with our partner universities in ASEAN countries, in cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat and – the ASEAN University Network (AUN).

Due to the spread of COVID-19 across the globe, AsTW 2021 will be held ONLINE from 8th to 19th March. The medium of instruction is English.  The Kyushu University provides scholarships for the selected participants mainly from ASEAN countries.

  • AsTW2021 online program will be cancelled when the minimum number of applicants or successful applicants is less than 30.
  • The result announcement will be e-mailed to each applicant by the end of January, 2021.

  • To receive the scholarship, a bank account for overseas remittance is required.
  • Once an applicant has been selected as a scholarship recipient:
    • A scholarship recipient needs to remit a partial program fee of 59,200 JPY to Kyushu University by February 10, 2021.
    • Once the remittance has been confirmed, it will get returned to a recipient by overseas remittance.
  • The remaining program fee will be covered by the scholarship (no need to remit upfront).

Samara National Research University (Samara University) is one of the leading Russian universities, highly-regarded not only in Russia but abroad. Samara University trains specialists in rocket and space engineering, aviation, radio electronics, metallurgy, the automotive industry, the information-and-communication industry, and other fields.

We are pleased to inform you that Samara University invites Universitas Gadjah Mada students to attend its ONLINE WINTER SCHOOLS at the Samara National Research University in Russia. The Online Winter Schools are intensive study and research courses with a rich cultural program.   1. Finish the application to Samara University Online Autumn Schools directly. (Application is possible via this link)
  2. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form:http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than December 1st, 2020 for OIA’s internal documentation.
  3. THE FINAL decision from Samara University.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep a copy of the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and/or nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
