[Thailand] 7th Young ASEAN Leaders Policy Initiative (YALPI) 2023

Call for Participants!

A post-Covid-19 era has become an item on the top agenda of many policymaking stakeholders and national leaders around the globe, especially regarding how the issue of equity and resilience will unfold now that countries are negotiating their respective recovery track. Recognizing the important role young people play in envisioning an ASEAN community in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Organizing Committee of YALPI would like to cordially invite interested students at UGM to YALPI 2023 – Rethinking a post-Covid-19 ASEAN: An Equitable and Resilient Socio-Economic Recovery.

Calling all aspiring leaders of the future!  You can now apply for the Young ASEAN Leaders Policy Initiative (YALPI), a forum that opens doors for Thai and international youths (undergraduates or graduates, but not limited to ASEAN nationals), under 25 years old.  This year‘s in-person conference will take place at Chulalongkorn University – the oldest and one of the most prestigious universities in Thailand, from 5 to 10 February 2023. All selected students would travel to the university campus located in the heart of Bangkok where they will not only engage in keynote and workshop sessions delivered by prominent experts, but formulate and recommend policies that can lead to a more equitable and resilient post-Covid-19 ASEAN as well. During six days of the conference, the delegates would also expand their regional connection and let their perspectives be heard by a cohort of open-minded, aspiring change makers of different nationalities.

YALPI is an international academic forum that empowers ASEAN and non-ASEAN youths, by supporting research that has  potential to influence and shape socio-political policies. YALPI is back in 2023 with a fully in-person format. Participate, have fun and be part of our change-making community.

About Young ASEAN Leaders Policy Initiative (YALPI)

YALPI has been in operation since 2016, conducted annually by Chulalongkorn University undergraduate students who strive to create a platform for fruitful exchange between regional young citizens and key decision-making stakeholders from government agencies, non-governmental organizations and private institutions. Every year, YALPI has a different theme referring to the current situation that has to be figured out in terms of policy. Delegates who be selected as the representatives of youth together acknowledge and criticize YALPI theme key information of each year in Keynote sessions, understand how to initiate and develop solutions in Content discussion sessions with mentors, then come up with the policy recommendation at last which the winner’s will be handed to government agencies or non-governmental organizations or private institutions for actual implementation. To accommodate the selected delegates, YALPI also provides them with accommodation, meals (including Halal, non-Halal options, and Vegan) and exciting cultural activities so that they can have the most memorable experience in the Land of Smiles.
