Tokyo University of Foreign Studies has International Student Exchange Program of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies: ISEPTUFS. The ISEPTUFS program is a one-year short-term exchange program designed for international students, as well as Japanese students. The program provides students with the opportunity to study in Japan and helps them to acquire a firm understanding of Japan and the international community. Meanwhile, the program aims to promote meaningful cultural exchange and to contribute to the cultivation of outstanding professionals with international backgrounds.

Ritsumeikan University’s “International PBL Program in ASEAN Countries” is an education program focusing on “international problem/project-based learning” which looks to provide necessary “multi-dimensional thinking skills” (technical thinking, business thinking, system design thinking) by accepting students from a variety of countries and regions to work collectively to solve policy and social issues such as Asian welfare, urban planning and development which ASEAN countries have been facing.
This program has been created on the basis of academic collaboration with partner institutions and Ritsumeikan University as one of the “FY2013 Inter-University Exchange Project” by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) to promote student exchange with partner institutions in ASEAN Countries under AIMS program (ASEAN International Mobility for Students program).

[Japan] Kansai University – Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Course (IJLC) Winter 2019

Kansai University (KU), known as one of the leading universities in Japan with old history of 130 years, is a comprehensive private university with 13 undergraduate, 13 graduate programs, and 3 professional graduate schools. There are over 30,000 students enrolled at the university including more than 900 international students. KU campuses are located in Osaka. They are about an hour train ride away from Kyoto, Kobe and Nara. Under the new vision for internationalization entitled “Kansai University Global Initiatives” (GI Vision), KU opened the Bekka “Japanese Language and Culture Program Preparatory
Course” in 2012. This unique course is designed to enhance Japanese language proficiency, media literacy and inter-cultural competency.
Currently, over 100 international students from various countries and regions with large portion of students from Asia are enrolled in the course. They are striving to move on to the next stage of education at Japanese universities at both undergraduate and graduate levels. We are now offering an Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Course (IJLC) in addition to the Preparatory Course (Bekka). IJLC will have sessions in summer and winter. In this IJLC, we provide instruction in Japanese as a second language as well as Japanese culture experiences and field trips (e.g. to Kyoto). Participants will learn Japanese language, and understand Japanese culture and society from various perspectives. Another feature of the IJLC is that the participants will have opportunities to interact with KU Japanese students through a variety of activities. In summary, participants will have opportunities to learn communicative Japanese and truly experience the vibrant cities and people of Western Japan.

Experience the SNOW Life !

Toyo Winter Program 2019 will examine Japanese culture and society of SNOWY district, comparing traditional and modern, as well as urban and rural Japan. The program will be a combination of classroom activities, field trips, and experiential learning. Most of the program will take place in Tokyo, but participants will also have an opportunity to do a homestay with Nouka-minshuku (farming families) in Myoko, a deep snowy district in Niigata Prefecture on the Sea of Japan. While in Myoko, participants will experience real life in snow area and get some wisdoms of the way to live in snow area. At the end of the program, participants will give presentations on Japan’s attractive qualities from an international perspective

With the addition of the new College of Contemporary Education, Chubu University has become a comprehensive university encompassing 7 colleges and 30 departments in the arts and sciences. Initially established as a pre-eminent technical university for the Chubu region, in April 1984 Chubu University added to its original College of Engineering, the College of Business Administration and Information Science, and the College of International Studies. April 1998 saw the foundation of the College of Humanities, and in April of 2001, the university opened its newest faculty, the College of Bioscience and Biotechnology. In April 2006, the College of Life and Health Sciences was opened, and in April 2008, the College of Contemporary Education was established.

Characteristic of the university is its establishment of a structure that is truly comprehensive, including studies of the fields of nature, society, and the humanities at its six colleges and twenty-one departments of arts and science. The university has created an academic environment in which students can study beyond the spheres of each department or college. Considered extremely important is the combination of fostering a multi-lateral outlook, while gaining in-depth specialization. Detailed explanation: Three Programs to Study at Gifu University as Exchange_ Students
1. Special Research Student
Only graduate students can become Special Research Students. Special Research Students can conduct research on their themes at the graduate school, and can receive advice from a faculty supervisor. In general, supervisors will advise the students in Japanese. Once you decide your own research topic, please contact the Inbound and Outbound Student Affiars Section.

2. Special Auditor
Undergraduate students and graduate students can become Special Auditors. If the student’s Japanese ability is equivalent to Level 2 (N2) or higher on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, the students are required to be affiliated with one of the faculties, and study one academic field. Special Auditors attend regular classes with Japanese students at the faculty or graduate school. Therefore, they must have the Japanese ability equivalent to level 2 (N2) or
higher on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. In addition to regular classes, they can take Japanese language and cultural classes that the International Student Center offers. If the student’s Japanese ability is lower than Level 2 (N2) on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, the students are required to be affiliated with the International Student Center and study mainly Japanese language and culture. Students are placed to the most appropriate classes according to their Japanese ability.

3. Japanese Studies Program Student
The International Student Center provides a Japanese Language and Culture Program. The aim of this program is to help students understand the language
and culture of Japan. 
Applicants for this program must meet all the following qualifications and conditions; 1) applicants must be regular students in an undergraduate program, 2) must be in the second year or above, 3) must be majoring or double-majoring in Japanese language and Japanese studies, and 4) must have passed the second-level Japanese Language Proficiency Test (N2) or demonstrate equivalent proficiency in Japanese. This course starts in October only. We will send the application forms to the specific partner universities around the end of January, 2018.

13. Letter of Nomination from faculty (*addressed to Head of Office of International Affairs)
14.  English language proficiency  (Min. Score of TOEFL – ITP=530, iBT 80 or IELTS 6.0)

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

1) Submit the aforementioned documents to Office of International Affairs, UGM (Bulaksumur F-12) for internal review.
2) OIA staffs will evaluate your application.
3) Once you are selected as Nominated Student, OIA will send your application to Gifu University as for host university selection.
4) FINAL decision from Gifu University.

Please send all documents above in 2 COPIES to Office of International Affairs, UGM (Bulaksumur Block F-12) no later than October 17, 2018.
