In order to accomplish its purpose to engage more international partners, Global Engagement Office (GEO) hosted several academic collaboration meetings between Faculty of Social and Political Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fisipol UGM) and some foreign universities. Last week, GEO warmly welcomed two partner universities which are Melbourne University, Australia and Thammasat University, Thailand in Fisipol UGM to have meeting with the dean, vice dean and several prominent lecturers.
On Monday, March 7, 2016, the representatives from Faculty of Arts (FoA) Melbourne University: Prof. John Murphy, Prof. Mark Considine and Ms. Fiona Abud together with Dr. Erwan Agus Purwanto, Dr. Muhammad Najib Azca, and the boards of departments in Fisipol UGM discussed about further cooperation between the two faculties. The existing MoU would be renewed with several additional points regarding the joint course and study abroad program, particularly for the Master Program and International Undergraduate Program. Besides, both faculties also sought the opportunity to have research collaboration together to enhance the cooperation between two parties.
The next day, two delegates from Thammasat University visited Fisipol UGM to meet the Dean, Vice Dean and the boards of departments, particularly from the graduate programs. The purpose of the meeting were to promote the new international graduate program in Thammasat University called Master of Arts in Asia-Pacific Studies (MAPS) and to look for candidates from Indonesia. They also offered a full scholarship from Thai government or Thammasat University for Fisipol UGM student who were recommended by the Dean.
