CCUC Week #1: Welcome to FISIPOL

Cross Cultural Understanding Club (CCUC) is a program that was designed by the Global Engagement Office (GEO) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Gadjah Mada University. The purpose of this program is to engage the international students with the local students of the university in many aspects, mainly in cultural exchange and understanding aspect. This feature of interchanging cultures is one of the highlights of the Global Engagement Office’s agenda because it is seen as one of the office’s forms of hospitality for the newcomer international students, as well as to show the involvement of the faculty in the international level of cooperation.

The CCUC program runs once in a week for one semester. There are a variety of exciting activities that will be held at each meeting, such as introduction session, Indonesian language mini course, manifold cultural activities as well as cultural courses and traditional dance workshop, cooking session, and Field Trip at the end of the period.  All these activities are designed to introduce the cultures from around the world to the local students and international students. Besides, it creates a positive interaction between the international and the local students, and thus they will be able to adapt to the culture and the Indonesian society itself. The club also give a chance and opportunity for Indonesian students to interact with diverse international students by using English because it is the one and only language that will be used as the medium of the instruction of the meeting, and thus the club can be used to learn and practice their English skills.
