Ambassadorial Lecture #2: H.E. Vladimir Lopato-Zagorsky (Republic of Belarus)

The second Ambassadorial Lecture that held by Global Engagement Office Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Universitas Gadjah Mada on 22 March 2016 at Seminar Timur Room FISIPOL invite the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Indonesia, Vladimir Lopato-Zagorsky. Ambassador Zargosky gave a lecture in front of faculty of social and political sciences’s students about Republic of Belarus in International Relations: Strategic Partnership with Indonesia.

Dr. Erwan Agus Purwanto, the Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, said that the lecture that given by Ambassador Zagorsky will broaden their knowledge about Republic of Belarus’s foreign policy. Ambassador Zagorsky said that Indonesia is one of Belarus’s strategic trade destination because the trade volume that increased from time to time. Now Indonesian trade volume reach 193,7 million dollar, increased 0,6 percent from last year. Even with this mutual trade relations, the diplomatic relation between two countries that start on 1993, but the formal representation of Republic of Belarus in Indonesia opened their embassy in Jakarta on 2011.

The session ended with the question and answer session. Participants really excited to asked about Belarus political view in international relations issues like Ukraine and how to engage more the bilateral relation with Indonesia. Students have a big interest to know more about Belarus. This lecture was a good opportunities for students especially for International Relations Students to broaden their perspective, because it was such a rare event to invite Eastern Europe Country like Belarus. At the last remark, the Ambassador invite students to continue their study at Belarus and offer some scholarship info.
